RISE
“Earth is beyond our control, believing otherwise leads to our self-destruction” ‘Rise’ refers to the rise of humanity with disastrous impact on nature and threatening the Earth … But at the same time, 'Rise' emphasizes the need for decisive policymakers and global cooperation regarding climate and biodiversity issues, essential prerequisites for our existence, banishing the purely self-centered and economic drivers. |
STORM MAKER
“In reality, their pledges of wealth and fame deliver only pain” Inspired by the documentary 'The Storm Makers' (2014), this song addresses human trafficking in Cambodia. It delves into the brutal trade of mainly young women and children fueled by poverty, desperation, and greed, shedding light on the plight of victims, often forced into horrific working conditions and prostitution. |
ATOMIC RETRIBUTION
“Borders and countries are merely artificial entities in which ordinary people act as cannon fodder in the power struggle between kings” While inspired by the context of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, this track's scope extends beyond time and space. It focuses on the powerlessness and consequences endured by ordinary people in wars waged by rulers, fueled by an insatiable hunger and apathetic pursuit of power, depicting the sacrifice of innocent lives. |
BLACK DIAMOND
“In the diamond trade, where fortunes glide, violence and slavery coincide" Drawing inspiration from modern slavery, such as the lucrative and criminal diamond trade in Africa, this track symbolizes the human aspect behind slavery, portraying both the fear and the deep-rooted dream of freedom. |
CONVERGING PARALLEL WORLDS
“On the high waves we'll sail on two parallel worlds, slowly converging paths, merging at the shore” Despite being the title track, the story behind the song differs from that of the album. It was written in memory of Thomas's father, depicting the progression of illness, the unequal struggle many individuals face, and the farewell to the physical connection between loved ones. |
UNDERWORLD
“The unspoken agony resonates as the most desperate call for aid" This song is based on personal experiences, highlighting the difficult struggle faced by many due to the contemporary lack of empathy within an increasingly individualistic society. It focuses on the impact of bullying and the conflicting emotions experienced by victims. |
THRONE OF THORNS
“Humanity's illusion of supremacy pierced by the thorns of truth” An instrumental track bearing the band's name, it metaphorically addresses humanity's impact on the Earth and its environment. Placing ourselves above natural processes in an arrogant way will ultimately lead to self-destruction. |
FIRE AND ICE
“Megalomania paves the path to self-destruction" Thematically linked to 'Throne of Thorns' and 'Rise,' this track symbolizes humanity's megalomaniac nature and its belief that it can control nature in its pursuit of prosperity. It warns about the repercussions of thoughtless decisions on the survival of all living organisms, including humans. The momentary impression that we as humans (fire) can control nature (ice) in our insatiable and greedy pursuit of wealth (fire turns ice into water) will prove to be temporary, as nature (water) will finally regain lost ground from humanity (fire), just like water extinguishes fire. |
